Lebanese Arabic I
Adjunct Professor of Lebanese Arabic I: To be announced
This ten week intensive non-credit course is designed to teach Beginning Lebanese Arabic through immersion, fun and humor.
Meeting Time and Location:
Lebanesef Arabic I— Meets once per week on Thursday from 7:30-9:00 PM for ten weeks
First day of Class: June 3, 2010
Location: 1920 G Street, NW, Washington DC
Prerequisites:
No previous foreign language experience is required. By the end of the semester, you can expect to have basic reading, writing, and speaking skills.
Academic Goals:
This course teaches the alphabet within two classes. Students will need to practice writing the Arabic letters within the textbook called Alif Baa which students may purchase through DC Internationals tax free for $40. Students will be discouraged to write Arabic phonetically in any language besides Arabic.
The course will focus on spoken skills; however, reading and writing skills are essential to understanding spoken Lebanese. By the end of the semester, you can expect to have basic reading, writing and speaking skills.
