5 Week Intensive Preparation
Adjunct Professor of TOEFL- Intensive Preparation: To be announced
Meeting Time and Location
TOEFL- Intensive Preparation— Meets three times per week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6:00-9:00 PM for five weeks
First day of Class: June 29,2010
Location: 1920 G Street, NW, Washington, DC
Cost: $1,200
Prerequisites
Students should be familiar with English grammar and be able to read and comprehend most English texts. They should also be able to understand the majority of English conversations. This class is designed for students who are ready to take the TOEFL, so this class will largely be a primer as to what is on the test itself.
Course goals
Students will be able to take and pass the Test of English as a Foreign Language once they have completed this course. Using example questions and samples from tests, students will receive timed drills on test material. There will be periodic vocabulary, grammar, and reading comprehension quizzes modeled on difficult concepts from the TOEFL, and students will need to write essays.
Student expectations
Students are expected to come to every class, take in-class timed tests, prepare reading and listening comprehension homework, give oral responses, write essays, and study vocabulary and grammar. This course will be intensive, but it should also be beneficial as long as students participate actively.
